Annual Valentine's Day Brunch!

Annual Valentine's Day Brunch!

Hi friends! Happy Valentine's Day!

I know this holiday can be somewhat...controversial?! HAHA but I just really really love LOVE and I love celebrating Valentine's Day! Not only with my hubs, but also with my friends! Beginning in college, I've always hosted some kind of Valentine's Day celebration with my roommates + friends. This evolved into the Valentine's Day brunch that my husband + I now host each year. And I mean, everybody loves brunch. It's honestly just more fun than lunch or dinner, so we brunch!

Here are a few snaps from the setup this year (all from before the guests showed up because of course I forgot to take any pics after that!). As the hosts, we usually provide two savory baked dishes (one vegetarian and one with breakfast sausage) plus a bunch of bacon, and we ask our friends to bring other goodiesβ€”donuts, mimosas, bloody mary fixings, fruit, etc. We've found that keeping it potluck style makes it WAY easier on us. In the early years, we always tried to do way too much and spent alllll morning cooking instead of hanging with our pals. This year I did splurge for a custom funfetti cake from our neighbors down the street, Buttercup Cake House and it was WORTH IT! Yum!!

I waited until the very last minute this year to get the decorations so we kept it pretty simple. We grabbed these crazy heart plates and pink cups + napkins from Hobby Lobby, and that's where we found these hilarious little chattering teeth toys! The colors were perfectly appropriate for V-day so we decided to use one as the cake topper! Cute!!

Anyway, that's about it! The brunch was lovely and delish and I think it's always great to share the v-day love with your friends!!

Do you have any valentine's day traditions? Or any hosting traditions for other holidays? Or just because? Let us know!
