NYC for NYNOW!

NYC for NYNOW!

We just took a quick trip to New York City (our first business trip!!!) to check out NYNOW and visit some shops that inspire us!

We only had two full days in the city but we managed to jam pack our schedules with fun, food and shopping!

Our flight was delayed on the way into the city so we ended up arriving later than expected. It was also raining so we swiftly grabbed a Taxi and headed straight to our hotel. We stayed at The Jane Hotel which is in the West Village. We chose this hotel because it was affordable, photographable and in a location that made it really easy to get around. Our room was super tiny with a bunk bed but that's the NYC experience! It was perfect for our short trip because we only really spent time sleeping in our hotel room. At The Jane the bathrooms are shared which when we booked it thought was kind of weird but all of the shower stalls are private and the shower pressure was incredible. We would definitely stay there again!

When we finally made it to the hotel we decided to stay in and eat at The Jane's restaurant, Old Rose. We both ordered pasta and that was just what we needed after a long day of travel. Old Rose had great vibes and even better lemonade!

After a restful evening in our little bunk room we woke up and headed straight to coffee. We found the closest coffee shop to our hotel, Rebel Coffee, and made it our permanent coffee destination for the trip because our iced americanos were the best we've ever had! We grabbed a "legit" breakfast at The Grey Dog aka eggs + bacon. We knew we'd need some good food energy to fuel our bodies for the trade show.

NYNOW was huge! The Javits Center is crazy. We had no clue what we were doing so we kind of just wandered around and checked out the scene. We were there for almost four hours! We did a terrible job about taking photos but we did meet some people IRL that we've been stocking in our shop. That was the most fun part! We also placed a few orders and can't wait to have some new products in the shop soon!

Our walking legs were aching and we needed food stat. We refueled close by at the Gotham West Market. We got ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery and yum yum YUM it was delicious. After a long nap at our hotel we mustered the strength to go out again. We checked out Otherwild (a shop we've been following on Insta for a while!) and grabbed dinner at Pizza Beach. A beach themed pizza restaurant?! This place was made for us and we had to get pizza while we were in the big city.

Our next day (and last day) in NYC was all about shopping, eating and general inspiration gathering. We headed to Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company where Suzy used to get bagels when she interned in NYC. After bagels we headed to CW Pencil Enterprise, a place we've been dreaming about for ages. They are fellow lovers of yellow and all things desk suppliesβ€”especially pencils. We loved it so much we had to dedicate the entire above slideshow to their shop alone.

We stopped for coffee again at Irving Farm Coffee Roasters which was right across the street from our next shop location Tictail. They had yellow mugs so we were very pleased with our experience. Tictail not only has a physical location but is also an online marketplace kind of like Etsy! Our next destination was Pink Olive in the East Village. We wandered around the shops close to there, got Macarons and then stopped for pho at Madame VoAfter lunch we needed another long nap at the hotel. Walking around NYC really zaps your energy! Later we went to SoHo, shopped at Uniqlo and grabbed Tacombi in Nolita for dinner!

That's a wrap! It was a super short whirlwind of a trip! The next morning we hopped on an early flight and headed home.

Have you ever visited NYC?? If so, what are some of your favorite spots?

Not all of the photographs we included in this post are photos we took. Most were pull from linked websites but we'd like to give a quick shoutout to @nycdailypics for the awesome photo of Otherwild.
